Why did you pursue a career in healthcare:
In my personal and professional life, I have witnessed first hand the barriers that communication difficulties can create. I always believed that communication is a basic human right that should be accessible to everyone! This fueled my determination to make a difference and led me to pursue a career in speech pathology, where I could combine my interests of languages and science to help individuals overcome communication and swallowing challenges. If there is one thing in this world that should be accessible to everyone, it's healthcare, and co owning a company allows me to make this difference in my hometown that I have seen rapidly grow in the past few years without the supply of healthcare to keep up with it. I can't wait to see how Ayes Health makes an impact on our community.
Annalise
Administration Officer, Student Physiotherapist
About Me:
Hi, My name is Annalise, I am a student physiotherapist and co-director of Ayes Health! I am also a work from home admin officer here at Ayes Health, between studying and my physio internship.
My previous experience in helping clients with disabilities through rehabilitation inspired me to dive into a world of physiotherapy. Co owning a company while studying lets me immerse myself in the health field from day one, ensuring I enter the world of health early in my studies to ensure I get the best experience and knowledge possible.
Hobbies:
Morning runs, going to the gym, eating.
Fave food:
Le wrap & chocolate, I also love anything Italian or Japanese.
Why did you pursue a career in healthcare
I've always been interested and good at science and I love learning about and moving the body. Working in a career that combines my hobbies and interests whilst being able to help people with disabilities or rehabilitation for kids and for adults whether it be in sport or in the general population, I know it would be so rewarding.
I will never forget the first stroke patient I helped in a hospital, after weeks of rehabilitation, he took his first independent walk to me and was so grateful for his progress. He couldn't speak english but I knew that he was expressing gratitude in what he was saying. That is a feeling I will never get bored of and will never forget and I can't wait to have the same impact on so many people at Ayes Health.
Veronica
Administration Officer, Student Speech Pathologist
About Me:
Hi, I am Veronica, an administration officer at Ayes Health! I am currently in my third year at Macquarie University, studying a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Science and a Bachelor of Psychology. I have always had a strong desire to assist and make a meaningful difference in people's lives, which has ultimately guided my career path. I look forward to working closely with individuals and help them overcome speech and communication difficulties.
Hobbies:
Reading, going for walks, shopping.
Fave food:
My fave foods are definitely anything Italian and Asian, but I love all desserts!
Why did you pursue a career in healthcare
I have always been interested in a career that included both education and science, where speech pathology combines both. Working in the healthcare field will allow me the opportunity to really make a difference in someone's life.
While I am currently still studying, having prior experience as a primary school teachers aide and working at Ayes Health led me to pursue a future career in paediatric Speech Pathology. Studying a Bachelor of Psychology has piloted my interest in neurological Speech Pathology, which I am excited to explore in the future.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love the movie 'The King's Speech'. This movie held a strong message of personal growth in a time where speech and language disorders were often overlooked. It's safe to say this has definitely influenced my love for this career.
